Game 3: Pacers (0-2) at Pistons (1-2)

The Pacers bench continued to struggle as the Pacers lose their third straight game to start the season. The bench was outscored 18-46. Jeremy Lamb was out for a second game, inserting Edmond Sumner into the starting lineup once again. Like the first game against Detroit, the Pacers struggled in the 1st quarter and trailed 33-25 after one. Indiana took the 2nd quarter 28-26 and trailed by 6 at the end of the half. The 2nd half was a lot better for Indiana. The Pacers led by 4 late in the game. Then back-to-back buckets by Luke Kennard and Derrick Rose gave the lead back to the Pistons. Malcolm Brogdon had two good looks from deep to give the lead back to the Pacers but couldn’t get them to fall. The Pacers held Detroit to just 37 points in the 2nd half but it wasn’t quite enough to give them the edge, they fall to Detroit for the second time this year by a score of 94-96. Domantas Sabonis led all scorers with 21 points and added 14 rebounds. Christian Wood led the Pistons in scoring coming off the bench with 19 points.

Game 4: Pacers (0-3) at Nets (1-2)

The Pacers got off to a fast start in this one leading 16-6 early on in the 1st quarter. Myles Turner scored 7 of those 16 points before going down with an ankle injury. He was helped to the locker room and did not return. Right now the team is saying that the injury is a sprained right ankle. After Turner went down the Nets went on a run, tying the game at 31 to finish the 1st quarter. The Nets took that momentum into the 2nd quarter and led 60-63 at halftime. The Pacers came out of the halftime break with a dominant 3rd quarter. Indiana won the quarter 30-20. The 3rd quarter was too much to overcome for the Nets. The Pacers would go on to win the game by a final score of 118-108. Edmond Sumner missed this game due to a hand injury but Jeremy Lamb was back in the starting lineup after missing the last two games and he looked great. Lamb gave the Pacers 25 points. Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon dominated the game. Sabonis led all scorers with 29 points. Brogdon got his fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 13 assists.

Game 5: Pacers (1-3) vs. Cavaliers (2-2)

Just when it seemed like the Pacers had kicked the slow start habit, it reared its ugly head once again. The Pacers trailed Cleveland 19-26 after the first. The Pacers bounced back in the second with a strong defensive effort, winning the quarter 23-11 and giving the Pacers a 42-37 lead at halftime. The two teams played a close second half. In the end the Pacers edged out the Cavaliers 102-95 giving Indiana their second win of the season. Malcolm Brogdon played terrific again but couldn’t continue his double-double streak. He scored 25 points and also added 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Jeremy Lamb had his second straight twenty point game giving the Pacers 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Game 6: Pacers (2-3) vs. Bulls (2-4)

The starting lineup for the Pacers looked a little different in this one. Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis both missed the game. Goga Bitadze got his first career start and JaKarr Sampson filled the other starting position. It was all Pacers in this one. They won every quarter except for the third. It seemed like the Pacers led by ten points the whole game. Indiana won by a final score of 108-95, giving them their third straight win. Thad Young made his return to Indiana, and was greeted to many cheers by the fans at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. T.J. Warren led all scorers in this one with 26 points. Malcolm Brogdon being great for the Pacers is becoming a trend. He finished the game with 22 points and 7 assists.
